DYSLSC Newsletter January 23 2026

23 Jan by Fiona Ronge

G'day Dee Why SLSC Members,
A huge congratulations to Cameron Read (2026 Citizen of the Year) and Herve Vichemont (2026 Outstanding Community Service Award) who were last night honoured with major awards at the Northern Beaches Council - 2026 Australia Day Awards for their longstanding commitment to public safety and emergency response. It was a great night, and Cameron and Herve gave exception speeches and represented the Club with distinction. Please see inside for all the details.
A massive thank you to the 17 members who answered a call-out for people to come assist a short-numbered patrol on January 10th. What an amazing show of teamwork and Club spirit, and I've been reliably told it was a really fun patrol. As we look at the upcoming weekend, our Saturday AM patrol could use some additional members, so please feel free to come and assist as needed.
Following the incidents over the past week, some members may feel hesitant or anxious about returning to the water. We have received additional operational guidance from Surf Life Saving NSW to assist our preparations and on-beach activities over the coming period. Of course, member wellbeing remains our top priority - if you or any member would like additional emotional or psychological support, please access the SLSNSW Member Wellbeing Framework:

All the best for the long weekend
Lachlan
