Hypoglycaemia occurs when there is not enough glucose in the blood. People with diabetes may experience this if they have had too much insulin, not enough carbohydrate (missed meal), had alcohol or/& exercised. The signs and symptoms are sometimes tricky because they are similar to intoxication! Check wrists & neck for medical alerts and upper arms for glucose monitor. If in doubt treat for hypoglycaemia. The attached provides some guidance on the recognition and management of diabetic hypoglycaemia.
